Race Day

I Corinthians 9:24
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize?
So run that you may obtain it.
Team McQueen

In Colorado Springs, every year there is a 5K race on St. Patrick's Day. After the 5K, there is a Kid's Fun Run and then there is a big parade downtown. So this year, we decided to make it a family event. Doug ran in the 5K (a 6:40 mile pace!!!, Go Doug!) and then Joshua ran in the Kid's Fun Run. Caleb and I stood on the sidelines and cheered our favorite racers along.

Doug's 5K - Clearly having fun already!

What a joy to spend time together as a family, to enjoy a beautiful God-created day in the town in which we are so enjoying getting to live. What fun to give thanks to God for good health and fun opportunities.

Hebrews 12:1-2
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

What a beautiful view! I love that the bible uses real-life analogies, so that we can really 'get' what it is meaning. No comment on how well I relate to the running analogies.

I'm totally impressed with those who run. I think physical discipline has so much benefit to growing in spiritual discipline!
